It is best but it sometimes gets very small errors like we got in our Adobe Premiere Pro. The error is when we import our video file in Adobe Premiere Pro it gets one error. ‘The importer reported a generic error’. There are many reasons for this Error for example, video file format or unsupported codec.
In this article we are going to discuss the causes of this error. Then we give multiple solutions for this simple problem.
As we discussed earlier, this error message pops up when we import our video file into our Adobe Premiere Pro timeline. There are multiple reasons for this error and we see all these reasons one by one.
First we just check that our file Codec is supported by Adobe Premiere Pro or not. Certain types of the Codec are not Totally supported by the Adobe Premiere Pro example as the QuickTime Codec was not supported by the Adobe Premiere Pro. If you face this kind of problem then the solution is to transcode the footage or Video to a newer modern codec.
Adobe Premiere Pro is supported by the major video format. But there are many video file formats in the world and some of these File Formats are not supported by the Adobe Premiere Pro. I give the link of the video formats of supported by the Adobe Premiere Pro : link
When you import any audio or video file in Adobe Premiere Pro it automatically stores that audio or video file Version into Adobe Premiere Pro It gives us better performance and quick access to that file. Adobe Premiere Pro stored Video or the audio files are called media Cache files. Hare we see how to delete these Media Cache.
This Solution is the most recommended method for this error. If the specific path of your video or audio file is not working in that case. We move our media file or video or audio file to any other location on our PC or any other drive on our PC and we import that file to our Adobe Premiere Pro and it works.
In some cases we find that just renaming your media file or video or audio file also solves your problem. We also found that just renaming folder names also works. If these two methods do not work you can move your file to a different location.
I Test this method for the .MP4 files. It's work for the other extension also. Method is very simple. We are going to change our file extension to .MTS Extension.
If you do not find your file extension: Just go to the folder at top Manu we find a view. click on the view. Click on the options. Here we find a view just click on the view. Here we find one option “Hide extension for known file types” Uncheck that option Click on the apply and click on the ok. Now your file extensions are showing on your PC.
Just right-click on your video file. Just go to the rename. now your name is go to the name. just go to End of your File name. just rename your extension for example if your extension is .MP4 Then just change it to .MTS. now your file extension is changed just import that newly rename file to Adobe Premiere Pro timeline.
If any of the above methods do not work for you, There might be a possibility of issues with your installation. We suggest reinstalling your software.
